I'm back

I'm back!

Long time, no post๐Ÿ˜” I haven’t posted in over three years. If you stuck around and happen to see this post, Thank You! If you are new here, Welcome.

Since my last post, I have moved to Germany and started university. I’ll be honest and tell you that my passion for blogging and fashion began to fade before moving. Once I got here, the dramatic change pushed all that to the side and allowed for me to no longer be my true passionate self. Recently I decided that I wanted to get back into blogging because I slowly started getting into sewing and dusted off my questionable fashion sketches (Drawing isn’t my strong suit, but let’s just leave it at that). I spent some time thinking about what kind of things I’d like to post and would love to hear what you are interested in reading, especially that which falls in the category of fashion, hair and faith. So please do leave a comment or send me a dm or email letting me know. I would appreciate that.

Today’s post will just be a quick introduction, or rather a reintroduction. So Hi, I'm Kristen. I'm 25 years old ah! I come from South Africa and I currently live and attend university in Germany. A random fact, at the end of 2020 I decided to cut a pixie cut and I low-key regret it, the regrowth.

I am passionate about fashion, hair, sewing, faith and many things in-between and through this blog, I hope to reach young people positively and inspire them by giving tips and sharing my interests. So come, join me on this journey. I'm not exactly sure where it’s heading but let’s learn and grow together and support each other along the way. If you’d like you can follow me on my Instagram: @kristenvigeland and Pinterest: @kristenvigeland. And, also sign up to get notified whenever I post a new blog post.

Thank you for reading. I hope you all are well and safe in these rather difficult times. Until my next post, God Bless and have a lovely week.

Personal Style & Favorite Fashion Bloggers

Personal Style & My fav Bloggers
18.04.17

Today I want to talk about personal style. I wouldn't say I have a specific style, as I tend to gravitate to whichever 'style' I feel like wearing that particular day. Today I'll be dressed like a plain-Jane and tomorrow 90's chic, the next day edgy or street style, some days girly and others sporty.
For many finding 'your' personal style is not easy; as we tend to follow current trends and they may not work for everyone, but in saying so the best way to determine your style is by trying out different cuts, shades and 'styles' to see which suits you best and makes you feel good. Check social media to gain inspiration from, like Pinterest and Instagram. Go through your closet for similar pieces and work with what you have and create your personal style from there without totally copying someone else's outfit but taking inspiration from it and making it your own.

Five tips to finding your personal style:

1.Style icons who's fashion inspires you- Follow their blogs and social media's to see their different outfits and how they style different pieces and take inspiration from it.
2.Beauty and hair are important- Personal style is not just about the clothing but the hair and beauty as well, as they are factors which contribute to your style as a whole and polishes the entire look.
3.'Repeat' pieces- Take note of pieces you tend to grab often. These are items you can work around  and incorporate into your new fashion icon inspired style. These are items you love and feel comfortable in.
4.Signature- Find your signature piece like a biker jacket, red lipstick, wavy hair etc. Then making sure it is well incorporated into your look to complete you personal style.
5.Instinct- And finally trust your instinct and wear what you feel works and makes you feel great!

Here are a few influencers that I follow (both local and international) and take style inspiration from adding to my personal 'style'

Micah Gianneli (micahgianneli.com)

Sheryl Luke (Walkinwonderland)

Julia Dang & Maya Nilsen (TheLineUp)

Aisha Baker Parnell (Bakedonline.co.za)

Nadia Jaftha (Birdlineblog.com)

Crystal Kasper (Newhipster.co.za)

Claudia Sulewski (Claudisulewski)

Bec & Marissa Karagiorgos
(Twiceblessed.com.au)

Jill Wallace (Littleblackboots.com)

The important thing to remember is Inner beauty, because without it; outer beauty is nothing, if we are 'ugly' on the inside. So always be you, there is only one you and you are the best you!

1 Peter 3:3-4

'Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.'

Have an amazing blessed week further!

God Bless

TEE Cotton On // DENIM SKIRT Cotton On // HEELS H&M // BAG Nine West

Hey loves!
Today’s outfit is the perfect combo between grunge and office chic.
This look is simple, comfortable and stylish all at the same time.
This look can easily go from Day to Night simply by adding a motor jacket or a denim one if you feeling brave.

For this outfit I paired a sleeveless graphic-Tee with a denim hi waisted pencil skirt. For shoes I opted for
my current go-to's these chunky black sandals.
To accessorize I went for my everyday jewelry and this cute leopard print cross-body.

For this perfect summer outfit I went for a short fit and flare (yellow printed) dress, because the dress is printed, I kept the rest of the look quite simple.
For shoes I went for these black chunky sandals, and added a white sunhat. To accessorize it just went with my everyday jewelry.
