Top 5 favorite hair products | Hair

Top 5 favorite
hair products
26.06.17

There are thousands of different hair products and it gets really overwhelming when trying to choose the right product for your hair, and it can take quite some time before you find something that really works for you. Today I will be sharing my top 5 favorite hair products, ranging from shampoo's and conditioners for curly hair which I have to serums, oils and sprays for silky smooth hair.

This is my favorite conditioner for sure. Now this product I use a bit differently as instructed, instead of a deep treatment I used this as a leave in conditioner when I leave my hair natural. It adds amazing moisture, controls the frizz and tames my hair preventing that bushy look. Also works great with a diffuser. This is definitely my favorite product for curls. Retails for R85 at Clicks stores.

This stuff literally holds your curls in place all day. I use the level 3 extra strong however it's a bit too strong but I still love this product. I scrunch about 2 to 3 pumps into my wet hair and dry it with a diffuser and in minutes I have perfect curls that are sure to last all day. I purchased this product in Europe and it seems as though it can not be bought in South Africa unfortunately. I believe I paid around R30-R40

Although I have curly hair and tend to blow dry it straight most of the time, When I do I love to spray or scrunch in some product for some extra shine and smoothness.

Here are some products I like to use

This product is real really good and it smells so good.
This product claims to :

  • Creates a protective shield around each hair shaft
  • Helps protect against heat damage
  • Improves the performance of your straighteners
  • Greatly increased shine
  • Reduces straightening time
  • Helps protect against color fade
  • Reduced frizz and static

And definitely does the job. I spray about 4-5 pumps onto my damp hair before I blow dry and the results are great, it leaves my hair super straight and silky. By far my favorite for straight hair! This product was a gift, however it can be purchased on Gumhair.com for  £19.99

FX Wild Harvest hair Silk drops

This silk serum smooths frizz and split ends. Let me tell you this stuff lasts forever and a little definitely goes a long way. I use this on the length of my hair as it prevents breakage. Available at Sally's beauty supply or on amazon and Retails for $10

Dove Nourishing Oil Care Leave-in Conditioning Spray

I use this product both when I leave my hair natural(Curly)and when I blow dry it. This stuff is great it moisturizes, manages frizz, is a detangler and leaves your hair silky smooth. It is a deeply nourishing leave in conditioner, so its best to use in the cold seasons or if you have dry/damaged or colored hair. I got this when I was in Germany, sorry guys but you can get it at DM for €4

Extra

Aussie Frizz Miracle shampoo:

This is probably the best shampoo I have used for my curly hair, it controls frizz but at the same time defines your curls. It contains blue gum leave extract, which is known for its soothing properties and it smells super yummy too. Retails R70 at Dischem

I would highly recommend all these products especially if you have frizzy/curly hair. I use all of them; not at the same time of course haha, but I try to alternate every month or every other month, as well as change my shampoo every couple of weeks too.
I hope you enjoy today's post and I hope I helped you find a solution to your frizzy, curly hair need.

Update : Purple Hair

Hi Guys!

Today's posted is my purple hair update as promised. About two or so months ago I dyed my hair purple using Manic Panic Electric Amethyst, I did a full blog post on the process and today I will be answering all the FAQ about my purple hair.

If you haven't yet read the first post, you can do so here

>>>  <<<

Where did you get your hair done?

I did it myself, I  am in no way a professional and the process I followed may not necessarily be correct. I did an entire post on the process in a previous post ( here )
Like I said I am not a professional but I did do lots of research and I honestly feel that I did a good job and this technique most definitely worked for me.

Was it a very damaging process?

If you have blonde hair, dyeing your hair purple will be quite simple and quick, however if you have darker hair- Dark blonde / Brown / Black you will be required to lighten you hair  pale to white blonde in order to achieve this particular shade of purple. Yes the process was damaging as I had to lighten my hair a couple of times, but there are really good home lightening products available lately and also conditioning your hair is a great help. I would recommend a nourishing hair mask or even plain old coconut oil.

How long does the color last?

The color lasted about one month. However I have to stress, if you wash your hair everyday or every other day it will NOT last as long.

How did you maintain the color?

After I achieved the final color I wantedI re-dyed my hair exactly one week after and again the week thereafter. I washed my hair with cool to cold water every time because hot water washes the color out a lot quicker. I never used any special shampoo's, but I tried not to wash the length of my hair too vigorously and I tried not to wash my hair too often as well. I then re-dyed my hair again a month after the first time just to freshen up the color for a wedding I was attending.

July | Favourites

Yet another month has flown by  and today's post is my July favourites.
The weather this past month has been very yucky, so I stayed in most days, curled up with my blankie.
None the less I do have some fashion and beauty favourites to share with you guys.

>>> <<<

Firstly I have to share my current nail color obsession- Cornflower Blue.
I have been loving this color on my nails lately.
It is a great shade with subtle shimmers, suitable for all skin tones and it can be worn year round.
This is Sally Hansen Hard as nails in 'Hard bitten' and it is also a dupe for the Essie's 'Bikini so teeny'

So this past month the weather has been confusing with really cold and rainy to clear and sunny days. To keep warm  i've been wearing lots of coats as they are warm and easy to style. However recently I have been loving my statement coat, this 3/4 sleeve houndstooth coat. This coat is easy to style and no accessories are necessary.

Coat // Jo Borkett

Another piece I have been enjoying this month is my  fluffy knit.
I think everyone should have at least one of these, I on the other hand wouldn't mind having them in every color possible. They keep you warm, they're soft and fluffy, and they add a touch of class to your outfit so what more could you ask for.

Fluffy knit // Cotton On

Black skinny jeans are most definitely a closet must- have. They match with literally anything and can be worn from day to night, casual to formal and everything in between.
These are just perfect!
I have been wearing my pair a ton this past month and will probably for months to come.

Skinny Jeans // Forever 21

These chelsea boots were gifted to me about a month ago and I have been living in them. They are easy to slip on no zippers and buckles. They are the perfect pair of little booties, they are black, comfy and can be transitioned from one season to the next.

Robin Chelsea boots // Mossimo

My last fashion favourite has to be my new favourite little leopard printed crossbody. This bag is the perfect size to fit all my essentials and adds a touch of leopard print to my outfits, which I absolutely love.

Crossbody // Nine West

A couple of months ago I decided to give myself a purple ombre, and of course I had to lighten my hair which we all know is damaging. So recently my parent were in America and I asked them to bring me a product which would nourish, smooth and glossen my hair but not leave it oily.
This Wild Harvest Hair 'silk drops' are amazing, it is a silk serum and does a perfect job at everything I have been looking for and doesn't leave my hair oily at all!

This month I decided to add my snack favourites, because  it's winter I find myself snacking constantly, which I know I am going to regret!
I have been obsessed with these mini Oreo's - which has always been my favourite cookie. Also I have been enjoying Wonka Nerds! why did I ever stop eating these?

>>> <<<

And lastly my make-up favourites. I have be wearing this warm brown shimmery eye look nearly every single day and it is so incredibly easy to achieve.

1. Firstly I prime my eyelids with the e.l.f shadow lock to hold my eyeshadows in place all day.
2. I then use the brown shade in my Essence Ready for Boarding palette in 'Beauty on Tour' I placed this shade on the outer half of my lid, in and slightly above my crease.
3. Next I take this Elizabeth Arden matte taupe shade and added it to my crease to deepen it.
4.I then take some of my e.l.f. Bronzer in 'Warm tan' and applied it to the inner corners of my lids and blend it onto the center of my lids as well as in my crease and just above it.
5. And finally I curl my lashes and apply 2 coats of Colormates dual waterproof mascara

I hope you all enjoyed today's post, Let me know what you have been enjoying this past month in the comments section below.
